Chocolate Apple Slices

These cute and chocolatey apple hearts make the perfect Valentine treat.

You will need:

  • 2 large apples
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 package M&Ms
  • 1 cup shredded coconut
  • Valentine sprinkles

Directions:

  1. Wash and dry apples, slicing the bottom of each one to make a level surface.
  2. Cut each apple into half-inch slices, placing them in a small bowl and sprinkling with lemon juice.
  3. Set out shallow bowls of toppings and grease a baking sheet.
  4. Create hearts by pressing into the apple slices with your cookie cutters. Skewer some of them if you want them on a stick.
  5. Fill a small pot with two inches of water on the stove at medium heat, placing a heat-safe bowl in the pot to act as a double broiler. Add chocolate chips and let the steam slowly melt. Stir every minute or so.
  6. Once melted, dip each apple until well coated and remove excess by tapping on the side of the bowl.
  7. Add your toppings immediately.
  8. Place on the cookie sheet and put in fridge for two hours to set. Transfer to a sealed container. Enjoy!
