Looking for something healthy and fun to do this spring? We have just the thing. Here at Robinette’s, we offer a five-mile outdoor nature trail that’s open from November through August. So grab the kids or a friend, and run, walk, or jog along our scenic nature trail that takes you through our orchard and some rough terrain on the northern area of our farm.

But make no mistake: you’ll be sweating as you go along. This single-track trail features some difficult turns and climbs, so be sure to bring your sneakers and a bottle of water. Closed during harvest season, which is September and October, you can hit the trail anytime between November and August.

Pets are welcome but we ask that you please keep them on a leash and clean up their messes. Check out Robinette’s Etiquette to learn more tips.

Our nature trail is free to all walkers and joggers, but if you plan to ride your bike, please pay the day rate of $3 at the Apple Haus before using the trail. If you plan to use the trail on a regular basis, you can purchase an annual pass for just $30. We ask that you wear a helmet, follow all safe biking rules, and avoid biking on the trail when it’s muddy or at night.

Before you set out, be sure to grab a free trail map courtesy of Rob Andro and the West Michigan Trail Runners. Get more mountain biking information by visiting the Michigan Mountain Biking Association.

Benefits of Walking in Nature

There’s nothing quite like taking a walk or hike on a nice day while surrounded by nature. There are many health benefits that come with walking along a trail for just 30 minutes. According to the National Park Service, walking can:

  • Improve heart health and circulation
  • Lower cholesterol, glucose, and blood pressure
  • Reduce inflammation
  • Boost the immune system
  • Decrease the risk of certain diseases and cancers
  • Improve concentration
  • Prevent diseases such as dementia, as interacting with green spaces can increase social interactions which in turn can reduce loneliness
