It’s finally almost spring and it’s time to rejoice and welcome warmer weather! Baked goods such as fresh breads are the perfect way to herald the beginning of spring. You can make a meal out of bread alone or you can pair it with your favorite dish. Check out this yummy springtime bread recipe to try.
Recipe: Strawberry Brioche With Pearl Sugar
Strawberry Brioche with Pearl Sugar is made up of a sticky-sweet strawberry filling twisted into a buttery brioche dough, topped off with a sprinkling of pearl sugar for an elegant crunch.
You will need:
- 3 cups flour
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- 2 tsp. instant yeast
- 2 tsp. kosher salt
- 4 eggs
- ½ cup warm whole milk
- ¾ cup softened unsalted butter
- 1 lemon, zested
- 1 egg white
- 1 tbsp. water
- Strawberry Jam Filling (see recipe below)
- Pearl sugar
Directions:
- Combine flour, granulated sugar, salt, and yeast in a mixing bowl. Stir in eggs, then add warm milk on low speed. Once dough starts to come together, increase mixer speed to medium-high, beating for about eight minutes.
- Add butter in three pieces, beating until you get a smooth and elastic dough.
- Spray a bowl with cooking spray, then place dough in bowl. Cover surface with plastic wrap; let rise in a warm place for two hours.
- Refrigerate dough for a half hour.
- Spray a 9×5-inch loaf pan, lining pan with parchment paper.
- In a small bowl, whisk an egg white with the water.
- Roll dough into 16×12-inch rectangle on a floured surface, brushing edges with egg wash.
- Spread Strawberry Jam Filling on the dough with a one-inch border.
- Roll the dough, pinching the seam to seal, then cut roll in half lengthwise.
- Twist pieces tightly around one other, and then pinch ends to seal. Place in pan, cut sides up.
- Cover; let rise in a warm place for up to an hour.
- Preheat oven to 350°F.
- Brush top with egg wash, then sprinkle with pearl sugar.
- Bake for 20 minutes before covering with foil and baking 40 to 45 minutes more.
- Let cool.
Strawberry Jam Filling
- 1 cup strawberry preserves
- 2 tbsp. cornstarch
- 2 tbsp. fresh lemon juice
Directions:
- Cook preserves, lemon juice, and cornstarch in small saucepan over medium heat for five minutes.
- Allow to cool and put in refrigerate for half hour before using.
