Individual All-American Apple Pies
Easy to make, these all-American apple pies are filled with a homemade apple and cinnamon filing.
You will need:
- 4 cups apples (small chunks)
- 3/8 cup granulated sugar
- 2.5 tbsp. flour
- 2 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp. nutmeg
- 2 tsp. vanilla extract
- 2 pie crusts (store bought)
- 1 tbsp. butter (melted)
- 1 tbsp. butter (for greasing)
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 425F, then grease a muffin pan with butter.
- Unroll crust and cut out circles with cookie cutters or a jar top. You should have enough dough left over to use for the top of the pies.
- Place one dough circle into each muffin cup.
- Put the muffin pan and leftover dough in the refrigerator while making the filling.
- Mix chopped apples, sugar, flour, vanilla, cinnamon, and nutmeg in a mixing bowl.
- Take the muffin pan from the refrigerator and place filling to the top of each muffin cup.
- Take out the extra dough from the refrigerator, cutting out designs and placing them on top of each pie.
- Bake for 20 minutes, then remove the muffin tin to brush melted butter on top.
- Bake for another five minutes.
- Remove from oven and cool for 15 minutes.
- Serve warm with any topping.
Patriotic Apple Pie
This apple pie recipe is sure to be a hit with party-goers on Friday, 4th of July. Best part is, you don’t have to make your own crust!
You will need:
- 1 unbaked pie crust
- 3 large tart apples, peeled, cored, thinly sliced
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 tbsp. flour
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 2 vanilla extract
- 1/8 cinnamon
- Ice cream or whipped cream for serving
For the topping:
- 7 tbsp. butter
- 3/4 cup flour
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup pecans
- Dash of salt
Directions:
- For the pie: Preheat oven to 375°F.
- Place dough in a pie pan, decorating the edges if desired.
- Put apple slices in a large bowl.
- Mix cream, 1/2 cup brown sugar, 1/2 cup sugar, 1 tbsp. flour, cinnamon, and vanilla in a separate bowl.
- Pour over apples, then pour apples into the pie shell.
- For the topping: Mix butter, flour, sugar, pecans, and salt to taste.
- Spread topping over apples.
- Place pie on a cookie sheet and bake for one hour.
- Serve warm with whipped cream or ice cream.
