July and August are the best months to schedule your school and group tours for the fall with us here at Robinette’s. In fact, we start taking reservations after the Fourth of July. Here’s a look into our group tours and why they’re great for your community group, daycare, or school.

School Tours: What to Know

School tours are offered throughout the fall, Monday through Wednesday. Designed for preschool age children and up, as well as their teachers and chaperones, you’ll enjoy a tour of our property. That tour includes:

  • Wagon ride throughout the orchard where kids can pick an apple.
  • Our apple storage facility, where you will learn how cider is made and get a cup of cider and a donut.

Don’t think we’ve forgotten about our adult groups – you are also welcome all year round to shop for baked goods and gifts in our gift barn, or indulge in a coffee break, wine tasting, or boxed lunch.

Keep in mind:

  • Minimum group size is 10 people
  • Cost is $8 per person (this includes parents for school tours)
  • Gluten-free donuts are available for $4 each (please let us know beforehand so we have enough on hand)

Group Tours: A Way to Connect With Nature

Taking your class on a trip to a local apple orchard is a great way for students to connect with nature while learning about the agricultural process. These tours:

  • Offer hands-on experiences that takes classroom learning into the real world.
  • Provide a unique opportunity to witness how apples are grown, harvested, and processed.
  • Foster a deeper understanding of where food comes from.
  • Encourage a sense of appreciation for local agriculture and the importance of sustainable farming practices.
  • Encourage teamwork and social interaction.
  • Provide a natural backdrop outdoors for students to unwind, explore, and engage with nature.
  • Allow teachers to incorporate interdisciplinary lessons on subjects such as biology, environmental science, economics and history.
  • Promote a healthy lifestyle through outdoor activities.
  • Provide an immersive and fun way to learn beyond the classroom.

Apple orchard tours are an essential component of group learning, encouraging collaboration and helping kids to develop communication and problem-solving skills in fun setting outside the classroom. Not only are these experiences educational, they are also memorable as they spark curiosity and enthusiasm for nature and science.
