Whether you like to curl up with a good book or prefer to chat with a friend, here are some spiced cider recipes that will definitely warm up your winter. Spiced Apple Cider

This spiced apple cider is easy to make and is served warm for a refreshing and toasty beverage on the coldest days of the year.

You will need:

  • 5 cups apple juice
  • ½ tsp. cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp. nutmeg
  • 3 ounces spiced rum (optional)
  • Cinnamon sticks and apple slices (garnish)

Directions:

  1. Heat up the spices, apple juice, and rum (if you are using) in a small pot over low/medium heat. Be sure to stir often so the spices blend into the juice completely.
  2. Once hot, pour into mugs and garnish with apple slices and cinnamon sticks.
  3. Serve warm.

Hot Cranberry Apple Cider

Grab a mug of this delicious cider that’s made with cranberry juice, apple cider, cinnamon, and brown sugar. You can add some cinnamon schnapps or spiced rum for an adult version.

You will need:

  • 2 quarts of apple cider
  • 1 1/2 quarts of cranberry juice
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 4 sticks cinnamon
  • 1 1/2 tsp. whole cloves
  • Spiced rum or cinnamon schnapps (optional)
  • 1 orange, sliced thin

Directions:

  1. Mix all ingredients in a saucepan and bring to a boil.
  2. Reduce heat, then simmer, uncovered, for 15 minutes; strain.
  3. Pour into mugs, adding a shot of cinnamon schnapps or spiced rum (optional)
  4. Garnish with orange slices and serve hot.

Crockpot Apple Cider

If expecting guests, you can make this apple cider in the slow cooker, infusing your home with the sweet smell of the holidays.

You will need:

  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 1 tsp. whole cloves
  • 1 tsp. whole allspice
  • 2 quarts of apple cider
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 sliced orange

Directions:

  1. Place cloves, cinnamon, and allspice on a double thick cheesecloth, bringing up the corners and tying with a string to make a bag.
  2. Put the cider and brown sugar in a slow cooker, stirring until sugar dissolves.
  3. Add in the spice bag and put orange slices on top.
  4. Cover and cook on low heat for up to three hours.
  5. Discard spice bag and ladle into mugs.
